Admissions

At Thomas Ashton School, we recognise that choosing the right educational placement for a child is one of the most important decisions a family can make. We are committed to working in partnership with parents, carers, local authorities and professionals to ensure that every placement is carefully considered and has the greatest potential to support a young person's social, emotional, academic and personal development.

We understand that families often have questions about whether Thomas Ashton School is the right fit for their child. To support this process, we offer half-termly Open Evenings, providing opportunities to meet staff, learn more about our provision and gain a deeper understanding of our nurturing, relationship-based approach. We also welcome individual transition visits for pupils who are considering a placement with us, helping young people and families experience the school environment before any decisions are made.

If you have any queries regarding admissions or in-year admissions, please contact Stephanie Stonier:

Please note that the school is unable to discuss the outcomes of admission consultations directly with parents or carers. For updates regarding consultation decisions or placement requests, please contact your child's EHCP Case Officer within the Local Authority.

Independent, confidential and impartial information, advice and support relating to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is also available through Tameside SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service).

For further information, please visit:

We encourage families to access independent advice and support where appropriate to help them understand the admissions process, Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and the services available to support their child and family throughout their SEND journey.
